SHASTA ENTERPRISES - DRI-DESIGN RHEINZINK PANELS PROVIDE OFFICE BUILDING WITH A LOOK AS STRIKING AS THE VIEW

Two bands of Dri-Design® architectural panels around the top of Shasta Enterprises Office Building in Redding, CA create a striking design that matches the surrounding vista.   Perched atop a bluff on the Sacramento River, the building provides tenants with a beautiful view of Mount Shasta and the river valley below.

Approximately 10,000 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK® material was used to construct the Dri-Design panels that complement the polished granite tiles utilized on the building’s lower portion.

The patented Dri-Design Wall Panel System is an affordable dry joint, pressure-equalized rainscreen system.

RHEINZINK is a titanium zinc alloy ideal for high quality architectural cladding of roofs, facades and drainage goods.

The upper band of panels has two radius pop-outs on each end of the building and one large radius pop-out on the front.  The lower band has one radius pop-out on the front with the remainder of the panels being straight horizontal runs. The 1.0mm/20 gauge RHEINZINK Dri-Design modules included 4’x 2’ panels on the straight runs and 2’x 2’ panels on the radii.

The building was designed by Nichols, Melberg & Rossetto Architects, Redding, CA.  According to David Rogers, project architect, “We were looking for longevity and clean lines to make a modern statement versus the plaster look common in the area.  And we definitely wanted to create upscale appearance that would be attractive to tenants.  The RHEINZINK Dri-Design panels worked well with the granite and definitely gave us the highlight we envisioned.”

Installation was done by Harbert Roofing, Inc., Redding, CA.  “It was our first time using either Dri-Design or RHEINZINK,” says Howard Harbert, “and we had an excellent experience.  Gary McKee, RHEINZINK’s regional sales rep, put us in touch with the folks at Dri-Design.  They were very helpful and the product is easy to install and work with.”

Harbert Roofing did every aspect of the cladding including sheet rock, vapor barrier and the Dri-Design panels.  “That meant three or four trips around the entire building on a 60’ boom lift in some cold, wet conditions,” according to Harbert.  “But the job looks great.  We are very proud of it.”

Eric Batten, general manager for building owner Shasta Enterprises, agrees.  “It’s the nicest looking building in Redding,” Batten says.  “The trades all enjoyed working on it.  It’s become quite a local showplace for all involved.”

Dri-Design panels can be made from a variety of materials including painted aluminum, zinc, copper and stainless steel.  Panels are available in any Kynar color in both standard and custom sizes.

Sustainability

Dri-Design is a friend of the environment. The fact is, composite or foam panels can’t match Dri-Design for its environmental footprint.
